North East Loop around the country.

Since Scott's been here two years and never been to the east coast, I took 3 days to floor him on what the Kangwon province has to offer in riding.

We blasted across the country on hwy 38 all the way to the east coast and stayed at a beach outside of Donghae. After much assorted mollusks, beer, soju and 3 cigars a piece we staggered back to the crappy inn we were staying at to grab a piece of the floor to awaken to cotton mouths and hangovers.

With the sun on our shoulders we streaked up the coast on hwy 7 to where I almost took my friend out with a wayward ignition cover that fell off my bike at 90 mph. It bounced up and wizzed by his head with mere inches to spare. We blasted up into Seoraksan park, God I love riding there, to where I would blast thru the curves as fast as my bike could take me. Where as Scotty was having a hard time riding because he was too busy in awe of the scenery. We made it to the top and said his hand was cramping up (one of many iraq IED injuries). Don't puss out on me now we have hours more hard mountain riding ahead of us. The rest of the day we jetted up to the Punch Bowl, looked across freedoms frontier into North Korea hoping that some nork jackass heard the roar from our bikes climbing the ridgeline on the DMZ. Turned and burned thru the mountains out to the Peace Dam and down into Chuncheon.

The ride home sucked because Monsoon rain hit all the way home. I being the either baddass I am or the biggest dumbass I am rode with no rain gearall the way home. Rain gear only delays when you get wet and keeps the water trapped inside your suit so I own none. No big deal, I just couldn't see worth a shit, I should have carried my 3/4 helmet with the visor since that's all I really need in a summer monsoon anyway (just so I can see where the hell I'm going).

New loudness

Picked up some Paughco drags on Ebay last week. They sound awesome, when you let of the throttle they sound like a jake brake on a big diesel truck just barking away. I'm gonna have to make more changes to the bike since the springer is torture here riding around Korea. The roads are rough to say the least. They'll pave a road nice and flat and then tear it up a week later by digging it up and not backfilling it properly or even lay a correct road bed. I also have problems getting a brake to work right on the springer since it isn't strong enough to hold the brake to keep it from flexing and warping the rotor. Running without a front brake here is not an option. So this Friday I'll take some measurements to go back to a hydraulic front end. I think I'll go back to drag bars too.

Camp Humphreys 4th of July Freedom Fest

The Freedom Fest Ride and show was a fundraiser for the US Army Motorcycle Mentorship Program. We had a good turnout of clubs and independants between The Hump and Yongsan. Much thanks go out to SBU, Yongsan Road Dragons and Rough Riders MC.

Colleen (Prospect Randy's Daughter) and I getting ready to line up at the front.

The cops and I talking about my cop bike.

The womerns at the booth. L to R: Linda (My womerns), Sundee (Brother Jon's wife), Jovi (Prospect Shaggy's wife), Christine (Prospect Randy's wife)and Dee Dee (Brother Scott's wife).

My ratty cop bike won ugliest bike there but the best went to some easter egg paint job softail instead of my sporty chopper. Oh well.

The Green Weenie is alive again.

Finally got it done! I took it out on the road between Songtan and Geodok and that Andrews N4 cams with those 1200 cc valves in the little 883 cc heads makes it a fast monster. It sounds and acts like it means business. I nearly lost my hat screaming like a little girl trying to keep my boner out of my face riding it. Now all I need to do is take it out to Bison Choppers tomorrow to get them to cut some more spacers for the front wheel to install my GMA springer brake. The adapter plate with the stock brake didn't work worth a damn. The rotor would flex and unseat the pucks and lock up while going down the road. Scarry shit! It happened once at 70 mph and I have no idea how I kept it up.

Ahh, the bugs of summer...

Last night Gary and I rode to my house to look for a voltage regulator for my Electraglide. Well, the 12 mile ride from Anjeong-ri to Songtan where my house is we must have killed half the bugs in Korea with our faces. It felt like rain but with bug guts instead.

EVO porn tonight boys...

OK, I know there are a lot of purists out there who wouldn't even consider anything newer than '84 simply because that's when the Evo came out and the Shovel went into the annals of MoCo history. But I'll be damned if I don't love the Evo. Look at what the MoCo did over time. When the Knuck first cam out that was a great leap in overhead valve design from the side valve Flathead motors. They then tweaked the top end and came up with the Pan. Again redesigning the Pan came the Shovel. The Shovel was again tweaked from the generator cases to the alternator case familiar with the Evo. If it wasn't for AMF the Evo wouldn't be around. AMF decided it was time to make a good product and make it better, meaner and faster without leaks. Hence iron cylinders, good bye. Hello aluminum jugs and with them came closer tolerances. Oil systems were virtually gone now with the new Evo oil pump and just general dicking around came NO LEAKS.

I know guys who say there's nothing like the sound of a Pan or Shovel but to me, my evo gives me wood. I embrace change, newness and better technology. I'll even commit blasphemy and say I like my Twinky motor in the Blank Slate '04 FXST I have sitting back home in Texas and can't wait to get time to hack on it with my sawsall and grinder. I will admit I messed up and bought that softail when over time I have come to the realization that traditional swingarms are the way to go. I think I might leave it alone and sell that badboy and get a Dyna superglide to hack up. On a side note I will always own a Sporty chop until I croak or them moto-sickles kill me.
