New gun and range time

So my Dad flew down from Chicago to pick up my truck to use while I'm out of the country and we zipped over to Cabella's to go look at some guns. I picked up a new Walther PK380 and Dad bought a little pocket Ruger LCP.380 pocket pistol. I also picked up a Romanian AK but it's that wierd low capacity single stack magazine type so I'm in the process of gunsmithing it right now. Anyway here's the Walther PK380... I love this little gun.

My PK380 with my Glock 30 in .45 ACP.

A work in progress... got rid of the cheap wood sporting stock and forearm with a nice folder and composite handguards with a holographic sight. Still need to do some more work with my die grinder before I can reassemble it.

50 feet target with the Glock. Man this thing is accurate with such a short barrel. I didn't post the target I shot with the new .380 because the whole thing is swiss cheese with me putting 100 rounds into it with my little Walther and Dads little Ruger which my walther was almost as super accurate asd my Glock but with a few mags in the Ruger at 25 feet the rest of the paper was shot up. That little Ruger is a point blank weapon with a max effective range of no more than 15 feet to hit anything.

Home in Tennessee

Got back home to Texas last night so here's a few from Tennessee that I snapped while at my old homestead...

Mom and my sister Meggen. I have to say I'm proud of Meggen, she just finished up her clinicals for her sencond Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. She was a Physical Therapist with her masters in Hospital Admin and decided that's the way she wanted her career to go. Way to go Sis!

Hwy 46 in Cumberland city still has a ferry to cross the Cumberland River.

Buchanan School, I went there from Kindergarten thru 8th grade. the school closed down in 1992 when the new lakewood school opened combining Springville and Buchanan.

More from the road.

Well, I'm in Chicagoland now visiting my Dad for a few days and then I'll be on my way south to Tennessee to my Mom's house on the farm. I was contemplating on just rolling out back to Cali for the Born Free Show since I've wanted to go to it and made plans with Nick and the Haints but well, I blew all my time on doing my own riding to see my wife and hang with her in Bumfuck Mojave Desert California.

Winter and stupidity

Cut here

Having Diner

This is what was waiting for me in the morning from Eureka, NV to Ely, NV. Froze my ass off the whole way from Reno and stopped in Eureka because up the pass and down the road was snowed in. It's late May for christ sakes.

Another from today

I'm enjoying some high altitude coolness from the hot valley floors where the main roads are.

I'm turning into a desert rat

Rolled around the searless, panamint and death valleys today. Visited an abandoned gold mine and rolled in a high mountain valley in the panamint mountain range where I had to do a little dirt biking with a 900 lb. Harley Ultra Classic.

Kernsville car show...

Out in the middle of Kern Valley out in the mountains near the Republic of Mojavia was Kernville and this car show Linda and I happened on to. Afterward we rolled out to Kern River Brewing Company and it was a little tavern with good food but they made GREAT BEER! I love micro brews and this place was in my opinion one of the best. I'll do a post later with another new favorite which is the Indian Springs Brewing comapany here outside Ridgecrest/Inyokern that makes Mojave Gold and Mojave Red and a couple of other great flavorful beer...

At the Boozefighters Chapter 101 clubhouse

The wife and I drove around the mountains north of LA. Got a text from Two Buck on the location of the clubhouse and decided to drop in. Not a lot happening. Then we went and ate taco's at a taqueria down the street.

Out from the 'Stan and rolling around the country

Ok, I've actually been back for 2 weeks but been on the road. I came home and spent the night in my own bed at my house in Texas, loaded up the bike and rolled to Denver in the morning to go see my wife. She's working for SNC as a logistics tech so she got an apartment in Aurora while I was in the 'Stan. Spent a few days there driving around the mountains then she had to leave for China Lake Naval Weapons Station in California.

The first Moose Linda's ever seen.

Loveland Pass

After freezing my ass off thru Kenosha Pass and Park County I finally ran into some warmer weather. Well, in the 40's anyway...

I went back into the cold a few times as I went thru 5 mountain passes and crossed the continental divide 3 times before I made it to New Mexico.

From Southern Colorado to California I didn't take any pics because after leaving Farmington, NM about 75 miles into the ride the bike started sputtering. As I got into the Navajo Nation in Arizona it got worse as time went. After pulling off the road 40 miles from the nearest civilization to check the plugs and for spark and found both to be OK 15 bikes passed by with them lookig at me and waving while they film themselves with camera mounts on their bikes! Well fuck you too assholes! here I am in the middle of the desert with a shitty running bike, off the side of the road with my hazard flashers on without them even so much as to see if I was OK or if I had any water. So I fired the bike back up and got back on the road. This time it was only firing on the front cylinder knowing it's all electronic. God, I wished I had my sporty chopper. I made the last 120 miles on 1 cylinder to Flagstaff, AZ and spent the night at a Motel 6 across I-40 from Grand Canyon HD. In the morning they had the bike running in 20 minutes after remapping the ECU. I miss carbs!

After that was taken care of I rolled as fast as I could to Ridgecrest, CA. I fought a horrible headwind the whole day. Once I got to Barstow and turned North I fought a 40 mph sidewind gusting to 70 mph! My ass was wore the hell out after that.

Self induced Chopper Glory pergatory

I love my job. I just hate not being able to ride for 3 months at a time. So here's some B&W's I took.
